Species: Bonito (Tuna belly)
Origins of the species: Galicia, Spain – coastal region famed for its estuaries (“rías”) and rich fishing traditions
Texture: Unctuous, rich, and silky
Character: Deeply savory and luxurious, thanks to the handmade butter
Aromatic notes: Warm dairy notes, subtle ocean salinity, and creamy richness
Tin size: 3.9 oz
The butter this tuna is preserved in is handmade by a lone neighborhood dairy farmer, Carmela. She milks her cows every day at 7am, churning butter using classic, traditional methods without modern-day machinery.
One bite of this butter has the ability to transport Galician locals back to the days of their youth.
Flavor Notes
This isn't your everyday canned tuna. Bonito Belly is preserved in a heavenly handmade Galician butter, produced by local dairy farmer Carmela using traditional churning methods.
The result is a silky, melt-in-your-mouth bite that is equal parts nostalgic and extraordinary. It’s a rare fusion of land and sea, combining buttery richness with the depth of high-quality tuna belly.
Recommended Pairings
Warm the tin slightly before serving to soften the butter. Enjoy directly from the tin, drizzled over fresh pasta, spread on crusty bread, or even tossed with warm popcorn for an unexpected treat.
